Lorenzo Lea (d. 1876), a member of the Philanthropic Society, graduated in 1827 and served as a tutor during the 1828-29 academic year. Among his duties was keeping the minutes of faculty meetings. Lorenzo received his MA in 1832, became a Methodist minister, and was founder and president of a women's college in Jackson, TN.
